What if an operations team could mimic some of the agile development principles? What would they become? What new abilities would they have? What new problems could they resolve? We show the transformation made by an Operations team adopting Agile methodologies to tackle today’s unique challenges.
Agile has been an industry buzzword for years and numerous development teams have adopted agile software methodologies to allow for the rapid delivery of high-quality software. What if an operations team could mimic some of those agile development principles? What would they become? What new abilities would they have? What new problems could resolve? “With great agile operations comes great productivity” will review the numerous transformations undergone by an Operations team adopting new methodologies to tackle the many challenges faced by those teams today. We will travel on a journey to show how one Operations team went from reactive to proactive and the demonstrate the steps that took us there.
Learning Outcomes:
Our goal for this topic will be a greater understanding of how Operations teams can adopt Agile methodologies and create a culture of DevOps within their environments. How you can implement small incremental changes that create efficiencies for you and your teams’ everyday workflow; daily stand-up or scrum, establishing work source buckets, using tools for tracking/managing project and support workflows (Jira, etc.), use tools to extract metrics and data to show how these changes make a difference and establishing rotations for on-call and support workflows. We will provide data that backs up our results, showing proof that you can get better, you can becoming more efficient using an Agile Operations framework.
